Today is Groundhog Day... today, on February 2nd, we All Love Groundhogs (except for Bill Murray, of course). If you remember the movie, Bill plays Phil who became an arch-nemesis of the groundhog. In fact, at one point he got in a truck and did multiple rounds of destruction in it. And sometimes with the groundhog in his lap. But the movie missed it in one way... where was the tow truck that Bill clearly needed? Just know that when you call Summit Towing Services for a tow... we answer. ALWAYS! It's our thing. Another interesting fact about today... Punxsutawney Phil (the groundhog of all groundhogs) did something that he's done only 18 other times in his history. He declared the SPRING WILL BE COMING SOON! Word is that he is ALWAYS right. I don't know about you, but we're ready for spring.
Well... we survived the sub-zero temperatures that fell on top of us during these past couple of days. We helped a lot of people who got stranded in one way or another due to these weather conditions, and if you're one of the folks we helped, we appreciate you and that you chose to use us!
With temperatures down into the single digits, this is when we get a lot of calls from people needing help with their situation. The biggest problem we see is a weak battery that just decides to give up from the extreme cold. Fortunately, our drivers can swing by your location, give your battery a quick jump start, which enables you to get to an auto parts store or mechanic to have them swap out your battery.
We provide battery jump starts pretty much on a daily basis. It's not unusual that your car will start fine, and then the next time cranks slower but starts, and then the next time there's no cranking at all and your stranded. Then a feeling of panic sets in. Why won’t my car start? What’s wrong? Why isn't the engine cranking? Is this going to cost me hundreds of dollars to fix, or worse yet, thousands of dollars? The most start problem is a worn battery that needs replacing. That's not the only thing it could be, but 9 times out of 10, that's what it is.
AAA Auto Club research conducted with AAA's network of approved auto repair services facilities showed that the top maintenance items that motorists most often missed. Often times car owners find themselves calling for roadside assistance or a car tow because one of these overlooked maintenance issues left them stranded and needing our help.
